Dixon Hill Lighthouse
Bahamas
An adventurous hike up Dixon Hill and a climb up the spiral staircase of the Dixon Hill Lighthouse will reward you with one of the best views in the Bahamas .
The 160-foot lighthouse is in excellent condition.
The keeper of the lighthouse will be happy to show you around this still beautifully functioning relic.
At night the lighthouse still lets out a flash every 25 seconds, which is visible over a distance of 35 kilometers, for the benefit of passing ships.
The Dixon Hill Lighthouse, which is one of the few functioning manually operated lighthouses in the world, was built on the grounds of a former plantation owned by John Dixon.
