Blue Lagoon Island
Bahamas
Just three miles off the coast of New Providence, sits a small island and its lagoon. Salt Cay - better known as Blue Lagoon Island - is a favourite among locals for weekend getaways and group trips. Known for its stunning lagoon and pristine beaches, the island offers day trippers the opportunity to lounge seaside with all the amenities they could ask for.
At the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal, Blue Lagoon's staff welcome their guests on-board a private ferry - the mode of transport to and from the island. The 20-minute ride ends smack-dab in the middle of the lagoon, revealing everything beach goers could want in a day away. The Beach Day Package gives guests access to an inflatable water park, kiddie slides, hammocks and floating noodles and mats; more active visitors can hit the water with paddle boats, kayaks, snorkel gear and water bikes for an additional charge. Don't worry about packing a cooler - a grilled lunch with options for every diet is already included in the package, and there's a cash bar ready and waiting for beverage orders.
Along with its beaches and lagoon, the island is host to 19 dolphins and six sea lions at the onsite Dolphin Encounters facility, where, for an additional charge, visitors can experience a dolphin swim or a dolphin or sea lion encounter.
