Ansil's Boatyard
Bahamas
When one thinks of bonefishing in Bimini one thinks of Ansil's Boatyard.
Operated by Bimini-born bonefisherman and the country's sport fishing ambassador Ansil Saunders; Ansil's Boatyard has been the launching spot fishing enthusiasts headed for Bimini's legendary bonefishing flats wishing to hunt this difficult to catch specimen.
In undeniably dazzling crystal clear waters, that can be as shallow as five inches deep, you will be able to see the sleek gray bodies of the elusive bonefish through the shimmering surface.
At 80 years old, Saunders - a life long resident of Bimini - is still an active boat-maker and currently holds the record for catching the world's largest bonefish at 16 pounds.
Saunders has hosted many rich and famous visitors to Bimini who wanted to go head-to-head with the elusive fish, including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who visited The Bahamas in 1964 and 1968.
