Start your tour in downtown Nassau and follow your guide to several historic landmarks. Climb the famous Queen’s Staircase, a limestone staircase with 66 steps built by 600 slaves in honor of Queen Victoria’s role in abolishing slavery in the Bahamas. Your guide will share its 18th-century history during your 15-minute stop.
Continue along Elizabeth Avenue to see Nassau’s tallest structure, the 126-foot Water Tower, which once supplied water to New Providence. Spend 15 minutes atop Bennet’s Hill at Fort Fincastle, an 18th-century fort built to defend Nassau from pirates.
Pause at Government House to admire the Georgian Colonial architecture and hear stories about this residence of the Governor-General during a 10-minute stop. Then enjoy a tasting at Graycliff Chocolatier featuring locally made chocolates.
Visit the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas to explore Bahamian art, followed by the Educulture Museum where you will learn about the Junkanoo festival.
