Van Breugel's Restaurant and Bistro
Bahamas
When you walk into Van Breugel's Restaurant and Bistro, you get an instant sense of fusion between of and new. Located in an historic Bahamian house, the restuarant fuses Eurasian cuisine with Caribbean flavors in a modern blend.
The restaurant is named after its owner and head chef, Freddy Van Breugel, who descends from a family of restaurateurs. Blending cuisines is Chef Van Breugel's forte, and guests can taste his talents in the house special, coconut curried conch chowder.
Van Breugels is open for lunch and dinner, and is a popular scene for happy hour drinkers; if you're a local, pop by after work, on a Friday afternoon, for a nibble with one of the items on the bar tapas menu and a much-deserved drink.
Located on Charlotte Street, between Bay and Shirley Street, Van Breugel's patrons have the option of dining outside on the restaurant's veranda or inside the restored building. Though reservations are not required, they are suggested for this hotspot.
