Allan's Cay

Bahamas

Cays and Settlements

They are the children of a prehistoric time and the diminutive descendants of the fearsome dinosaurs. While the iguanas of Allan's Cay are nowhere near being the man eaters their jurassic cousins were, they still demand respect.

Many of the friendly lizards are known to scurry up the beach toward visitors to snatch up free goodies.

It is tradition for island hoppers to feed iguanas during their visit to Allan's Cay, Exuma.  It is procedue to place your snack (usually grapes or another fruit) at the end of stick.

With only a few hundred of these creatures native to The Bahamas in existence, the San Salvador Rock Iguana is considered extremely rare.  All Bahamian Rock iguanas are protected by the Wild Animals Protection Act.

Allan's Cay is easily accessible from Nassau on the Powerboat Adventures tour.  As you embark upon your journey, peer over and enjoy the crstaline waters on the along your trip to Allan's Cay.
