Pigeon Cay Beach Club
Bahamas
Cat Island's charm and immaculate beauty is best experienced in person with regularly scheduled flights from Florida and Nassau, this is just the place to make a weekend trip worth your while.
Perched on a private, beachfront property in northern Cat Island, the Pigeon Cay Beach Club is one of the island's best kept secrets. First established in 1968, the resort got off to a shaky start - it was destroyed by fire in 1972; in the early 1990s, its current owners purchased the property and reopened its doors to those in search of peaceful accommodation with a warm welcome.
For a home away from home feel, Pigeon Cay Beach Club offers seven self-catering cottages, ranging in size from one to three bedrooms. Each cottage is steps from one of the island's most beautiful stretches of beach and visitors are free to snorkel, kayak, or lounge around in peace and tranquility.
Of course, a trip to Cat Island wouldn't be complete without exploring some of the country's most remarkable landmarks, which include Mount Alvernia - the country's highest elevation point - and the Hermitage, in addition to blue holes and plantation ruins.
Rake 'n' Scrape is traditional Bahamian music, and it was founded on Cat Island, visitors are invited to dance the night away to the lively sounds of the Bahamas.
The best part? The Pigeon Cay Beach Club's cottages can be rented for as low as $140 per night.
